Ike's Bistro
Aruba

Ike’s Bistro is a renovation of the outdoor restaurant at the Manchebo Beach Resort in Aruba. Boasting the best beach on the island, this phased renovation of the boutique hotel considered the outdoor restaurant a centerpiece of the social gathering spaces of the resort's lobby and lounge.

Originally constructed on the ’70s, this space had become stale and needed a face light, design-wise. Working as the design architects on the renovation team led by our client, HSHA coordinated efforts of interior design services, bar renovation, and kitchen services.

Rigid grids of faded globe lighting were removed and replaced with a random scattering of recessed downlights and ceiling fans, encouraging patrons to relax and enjoy the scenery. Materials were revised to be more contemporary and simple with woods, stone, and stainless steel accented with pops of driftwood.

Chef services and interior design services worked closely with +HSHA in considering seating that can be flexible and accommodate intimate couples or large touring groups. Seating spills out from under the thatched roof structure and surrounds the adjacent pool, which opens to a clear view of the beach.
