City Church

City Church, a thriving church ministry in Tallahassee, negotiated to move into the Tallahassee Mall in 2013 and hired Hoy+Stark Architects to assist them in doing so. By 2016 the client, alongside +HSA, made plans for Phase Two, otherwise simply known as "The Move."

The client wanted to make a statement; a large percentage of the budget went towards the entry. The interior ceiling grid continues the angle and size of the entryway roof.

The building houses space for worship services, a children's ministry, a "care room" for therapy and support sessions, and a cafe for fellowship before and after services. The client sought a contemporary space that "would not feel like a church." +HSA used a limited palette of materials and colors that were coordinated with the client.
